Stephanie and JJ's Romantic Winter Wedding at the Fort Garry Hotel

This was a special wedding for me. Stephanie is my younger sister's childhood best friend (and she was one of the beautiful bridesmaids, too!). Steph and JJ were actually married last spring in the US, so Steph could get her green card. The reception in Winnipeg was a big celebration with all of their friends and family, including a lot of guests that came from the Southern US. The wedding was on the first weekend of January and it was COLD. I have to say that it gave me a lot of pleasure that these southerners were experiencing real cold :)

I started helping Stephanie with the plans before Stone House Creative was even in existence! It was great to be hands-on with her. I helped with vendor referrals, event design, day-of coordination, and floral design for the personal flowers and head table. The night came together beautifully, and was truly one of the best receptions I've ever been to. The evening was touching, funny, and so warm. And isn't Steph gorgeous? (with the BEST hair piece ever!)

Boudoir Photoshoot

Bombshell Boudoir is a brand new boudoir photography studio that just launched this winter -- owned and photographed by Noella at This Sweet Love! Noella coordinated a fun boudoir shoot to launch her new website with, and asked me to come up with a floral installation. We loved the idea of these hanging floral garlands, which just added a really interesting touch and pop of colour. I would LOVE to do something like this for a wedding ceremony!

2015 Season Update

Hi flower friends and brides! I wanted to send you a quick update on the 2015 wedding season, in case you are still planning your date.

Wedding Florist in Winnipeg - Stone House Creative

Stone House Creative is now completely booked from June through September 2015! I have two dates still available at the end of October, and a couple of spaces each in November and December 2015. I also have a few spaces in April and May 2015, in case you are a late planner :)

I've started to book consultations for 2016 winter weddings, however if you are getting married in summer 2016, you are in no rush to book a consultation. We can definitely wait until this coming summer and fall to start discussing your floral plans in more detail, so don't worry! Summer consultation dates will vary week by week, depending on my wedding schedule. My attention will always be first focused on my brides with upcoming weddings, and when your wedding date comes closer, you will be given the same dedicated attention.

Summer 2015 is going to be a busy one, and I absolutely cannot wait. I am so grateful to my brides for their excitement and trust in me. We've got everything from lush ceremony garlands to scattered centrepieces in vintage silver goblets, all-greenery arrangements to bold shades of coral and pink. I've even got a wedding coming up this month that we'll be incorporating fox fur into the bouquet, as a nod to a special family member who is a furrier! I'm so excited to get my hands on spring and summer flowers, especially some local blooms that are going to be so fresh that your mind will be blown. Or, at least, mine will be :)

As always, let me know if there's anything I can do for you! Shoot me an email at stonehouseweddings@gmail.com.

Featured Today on Style Me Pretty

Well, this is an exciting afternoon! Between working on flower quotes for 2015 and 2016 weddings and daydreaming of what's to come this April when I head down to North Carolina to attend round 2 of Team Flower Workshop, I got to see this pretty bouquet I made last year at the workshop featured on Style Me Pretty today! Check out the full bouquet recipe here!

Preparing for your Floral Consultation

Your flower consultation should be lots of fun! Sometimes I hear from brides that they are nervous, but girls, you've got nothing to be nervous about! We're going to have fun. Here's what you can do to make sure that your flower consult goes as smoothly as possible:

Wedding flower Consultation - Wedding Florist in Winnipeg

1) Do some thinking about what you like, and look at different ideas online or in magazines. Don't worry about being too specific - what's most important is that you know what kind of bridal bouquet shape you lean towards (classic round? something a bit more natural? cascading?), and what type of colouring you like (ie. all white and green? bold hues?). Do you like lots of texture and interesting details? Save some of your favourite images, and bring them in with you - that will give your florist a great idea of what you lean towards.

2) Bring in pictures of your bridal and bridesmaid dresses. Knowing what style and shape your dress is will be an important factor in deciding how large to make your bouquet and what shape of bouquet will be best for you.

3) Bring colour swatches. Whether these are from your bridesmaid dresses or are paint chips that show your entire palette, it will help us pick the perfect hues for you!

4) Have a general list of the things that you'll need - how many bouquets and boutonnieres? What family members and /or friends do you want to have a corsage or boutonniere? Will you need centrepieces plus aisle decor plus an arrangement at your guest book table?

5) Figure out your budget range. Sometimes brides feel like they need to keep their budget number private, and hope that the florists they are talking to will come close to it. It's so much better to be upfront about that number, because it gives your florist the ability to either give you the best suggestions to work within that budget, or tell you what is and isn't realistic.
