How A Wedding Comes Together — Sydney BTS
If you’re like most engaged couples, you haven’t thought about the behind the scenes of making your wedding happen. You’ve thought about your budget and your meal selections, you’ve thought about your music selections and choosing attire, and you’ve probably thought about the hair and makeup timeline on the morning of the wedding.
But most of you, unless you’re DIYing every single element of the wedding, haven’t thought about HOW the actual wedding comes together.
So today, I’m sharing a behind the scenes look at how a real Winnipeg wedding comes together (from a floral designer’s perspective!).
Contemporary Elegance at the Fort Garry Hotel
Out of the Ordinary ~ Artistic ~ Sculptural
Victoria is an incredibly chic person, and it’s very easy to tell: effortless cool girl vibes, with a strong fashion eye and an artful perspective. So unsurprisingly, she had a good idea of what she wanted their wedding to look like, but needed to know what was realistic and possible within their budget and professional suggestions about flower types and styles we could do.
She asked me to design a creative, Chateau Marmont-inspired ambiance, with a contemporary and elegant feel. We decided that some elements would be minimalistic yet elevated, and other elements would be dramatic and sculptural.
This wedding is the perfect example of what can happen when you communicate your vision, and then trust the professionals you’re working with to interpret it and make it happen just for you. Let’s dig in!
Old Hollywood Supper Club Vibes Wedding at the Manitoba Club
When the design brief calls for Old Hollywood supper club vibes, I’m in.
Long dinner tables, a rich jewel tone palette, draping to create intimacy, vintage brass vessels, mixed metal accents, and a disco ball dance floor installation were all important ingredients in Lauren and Jeremie’s wedding design at the Manitoba Club.
Let’s dig in to the details!

Classic Garden Tent Wedding in Whites and Greens
Mollie and Ben’s classic garden tent wedding took place about one year ago, towards the end of September.
Set at the most dreamy family property just outside of Winnipeg that backs onto the Red River, their wedding day started out filled with rain but turned around just in time for an outdoor ceremony.
Summer Meets Fall Wedding Design at The White Poplar
Late summer weddings are some of my very favourites — the colour movement, the locally grown flower availability, the green of the grass and foliages, the slightly earlier sunsets…it all comes together in such a beautiful way.
Christine and Herbert’s late August wedding fell right in with all of the wonderful things above. The general concept was “summer’s bounty,” featuring a warm summer-meets-fall palette of salmons, corals, sages, golden mustard, creams, and soft greens.
