Announcing the First Flower Therapy Class!
I totally get it. Winter is taking forever. And every winter, I reach a breaking point: I just need colour, lightness, and something to take me out of my every day dull.
So, I invite you to join my in my first Flower Therapy Class!
I want to share with you where this idea came from. Last winter, January and February were particularly stressful for me. There was something going on with my business that was out of my control (in fact, it was in the fairly pathetic control of Canada Post) and while it seemed like it should be a small thing, it was wreaking havoc on my business, and more importantly, my mental health. A very expensive parcel was lost in the mail, and the person to whom I was returning it was threatening to sue me for it. She is a small business owner as well, so I completely understood where her panic was coming from - she really needed that package. But aside from calling Canada Post every single day, sometimes several times a day, there was literally nothing I could do.
I needed a mental health day. In a month that was nothing but dreary outside and the constant stress of this person's threats on my mind, I needed to escape my life for a little while. And for me, that came in the shape of a day playing with flowers. I paid a visit to my wholesaler, where I picked up whatever I wanted. I chose a light, fresh, springy colour palette and flowers that I simply gravitated towards. My time that day was passed with slow movements, acknowledging the entrancing details of each stem, gently placing them into arrangements that I made for no one but myself.
I know that I'm not the only one out there for whom winter is intolerable. I know that I'm not the only one who needs a mental health day now and again. And I know I'm not the only one who craves colour in the midst of these dreary months. So I'm hosting this Flower Therapy Class and welcome anyone who fits into those categories above, or any other category that you fit into. Come and join me, play with flowers, and leave with a lovely arrangement that will inspire you and fill your home with cheer.
Registration is open now - I hope you'll join us! Seating is limited as our space is pretty small so if you're interested, make sure to head over to the registration page HERE as soon as you can!

Elegant Wedding Anniversary Photo Session in Winnipeg
If you've been following along with my work for a while, you might recognize this sweet couple, Tiffany and Quinn. They got married last August in a classic wedding at the Fort Garry Hotel, and it was such an amazing wedding to be a part of. Tiffany has a beautiful vision for things, which makes sense seeing as she's a designer! So when time rolled by and they came to their first anniversary, I definitely wanted to be involved! Even better, Tiffany had come across one of my favourite photographers, Esther Funk, on my Instagram feed and hired her to shoot their anniversary photos. They planned a two-part session, starting with a lifestyle photo session in their beautifully renovated home, and ending with elegant portraits among some of Winnipeg's most beautiful architecture.
All Tiffany needed from me was a bouquet. Not as large as a bridal bouquet, but she did want to retain some similar flowers to what we used in her bridal bouquet. For that nod, I tucked in locally grown delphinium and lisianthus, which we had on her wedding day! The star of the anniversary bouquet was the quicksand roses, and particularly, this ONE AMAZING ROSE. It caught my eye when I was processing the flowers and I kept paying attention to it throughout the week. It opened up like a dream.
I worked in some other pastel tones, all of which were locally grown - sweet pea (my personal fave!), scabiosa, and plenty of that taupe lisianthus, which was totally perfect. The overall palette was such a nice compliment to her elegant, simple dress and the bouquet was also incredibly lightweight, which is always a bonus!
Well, there you have it! I love catching up with my former couples, so if you are in need of some lovely floral touches for your anniversary photos, decor for the holidays or a party, or maybe a replication of your bouquet for an anniversary gift, just shoot me an email! I'll be happy to oblige :)

Beach Engagement Session with Full Floral Crown
Not every girl can pull off a big, full flower crown. Jessica certainly can! I made this lush crown for her for her beach engagement session with Andrei, and it was sort of a trial run for her wedding day, to make sure that she liked the way the flower crown looked and felt on her.
A large flower crown like this can be challenging - I'm always worried that it's going to cast a shadow on the bride's face, and take all the attention in a photo. I want to see a bride's face in her photos! But, these images from Kampphotography of Jessica and Andrei were just beautiful!
By the way, I just love engagement or wedding photos at the beach! For Jessica and Andrei it was the perfect spot, as they love to spend time at the lake. But no matter where you vacation, beaches are a beautiful backdrop for photos. The calming colour palette of watery blues, stone greys, and sand, the endless shoreline...it's photo gold!
More from their wedding day coming soon :)
Jungle-Inspired Dinner Party
Man, am I ever late on blogging this amazing dinner party! Early this spring, Emily from Feast & Festivities contacted me about a dinner party she was planning. She wanted to do something different - an industrial jungle theme it was!
I know that most people don't want to spend a fortune on decor for a dinner party, so Emily's idea was to use simple, jungle-esque greenery to pop on the table. It's a great idea - it doesn't take up a lot of space, provides a rich pop of colour, and is so simple to do! using different heights and sizes of cylinder vases, along with different types of tropical leaves, created a varied look with lots of interest. Emily also crafted some really cute DIYs and a signature cocktail called the "Jungle Rumble." Get her top tips for hosting a great dinner party on her site, here!
