Brunch-Inspired Wedding Inspiration at Cielo's Garden

It's time for a little more colour and a lot of fun! Emily from Feast & Festivities created this adorable tablescape at our recent styled photoshoot day, co-hosted by Stone House Creative and Host Winnipeg. I provided the florals, going a little bolder with brighter pinks and I had a lot of fun with this design. Emily brought it all together with some cute DIYs (mini pancakes, anyone?) and her signature, fantastic style.

Emily also styled an ADORABLE bridal session, which you'll see at the end of this post. I love how her personal style shows though in that cute hat! And, I just loved the bouquet that I designed for this. Sometimes, all of the flowers just go into the right places and it comes together really nicely - that was the case here!

Matt and Amanda's Spring Wedding at Cielo's Garden

Early June is amazing time for flowers - all of your favourites are available. Peonies, tulips, iris - plus, it's the perfect time to indulge in a palette of pastels! Matt and Amanda's wedding at Cielo's Garden was in early June on one of the most lovely days imaginable.

I loved working with Amanda on her flowers. She let me play with her pastel palette, so we used the most amazing soft pink hydrangea, light pink peonies, butter yellow stock, lavender stock and freesia, white and yellow iris, and delicious Queen Anne's Lace. I also tucked in Solomon's Seal and eucalyptus foliage.

I love these photos from Rachwal Photography!

I had been looking forward to this ceremony design for months. Amanda was open to whatever I suggested, and I had been wanting to suspend a garland from the open ceiling of Cielo's chapel for a long time. I added in a floral spotlight in the same pastel tones in her bouquet, and later I found out that throughout the ceremony, butterflies were attracted to the flowers. Isn't that beautiful?

The long farm tables at the reception were laid with Italian Ruscus stems, with loose blooms tucked in throughout the length of the tables. I loved the taper candles and other accents that Amanda selected.

Bridal Bouquet Ingredients

I'm so thrilled and honoured that this bouquet was just selected by Weddingbells as one of their "Most Beautiful Bouquets of 2016!" You can see the full feature here.

I love breaking a bouquet down into it's ingredients - I'm not much of a cook (though I love to bake!), so this is my version of a recipe card. I designed this bouquet over the winter at our Flower Friend Day, and I worked with a few flowers that I don't normally get to use, along with some standards that will always be favourites. It was nice to try new things and see how they worked together! It was also great to use a colour palette that I don't typically work with. Here's hoping that my 2017 brides will want me to use more colour in their floral designs!

Organic Pastel Wedding Inspiration at Cielo's Garden

This past winter, I felt my creativity genes itching and really wanted to get out and do something a little bit different, in a different way than I had in the past. So, I approached Jaclyn of Host Winnipeg to co-host an entire day of mini styled photoshoots with me, working with a different Winnipeg wedding planner on each one. We invited a handful of great wedding planners, gave them the overall colour palette, and simply asked them to show up on the day of the shoot and get creative! I designed a number of different centrepieces, Jaclyn and I set up table after table full of tabletop details, styling props stationery samples from Keeks Paper Co, and linens and decor rentals from Planned Perfectly. Oh, and we were working out at Cielo's Garden - such a beautiful space!

Today I'm sharing photos from Pantel Photography of the organic pastel tablescape I designed in collaboration with Host Winnipeg, and I'll be sharing more over the coming months from the other wedding planners' tables! Jaclyn and I started off with this gorgeous, hand-died muslin table runner from The Flower Cult. The stormy grey-blue colour was the perfect shade to bring depth to the other pastel colours that I worked in through the softer pink and purple florals. I chose a stone urn for the centrepiece, because I just love the natural texture the stone brings to a tablescape, especially for a wedding that's more garden-inspired like this one. Olive sprigs at each placesetting, wood candlestick holders, and slate-tinted glassware pulled the design together beautifully. And I just loved tucking that last little bit of foraged lilac into the centrepiece!

We also designed a mini bridal portrait session with models Eva and Vanessa. I just loved working with Makeup Expressions by Rimpal (makeup) and Krystle Taylor (hair). The bridal gown was provided by Bliss Bridal Boutique and the bridesmaid dress from Mad About Style.

I'm finding myself gravitating towards smaller bridal bouquets these days! While I'll always love a juicy, lush bouquet, this petite posey was refreshing. It features quicksand roses, amnesia roses, and  ocean song roses along with Queen Anne's Lace and locally foraged spirea.

Katie and Dan's Outdoor Vineyard-Inspired Wedding

As I'm writing this blog post, I'm finding myself having a very difficult time. Why? Because Katie and Dan's wedding was such a dream wedding for me to be a part of. First of all, Katie was just such a wonderful client to work with. She was kind, excited, and full of fantastic ideas. Second, they really wanted to host their friends and family at an unforgettable celebration - and unforgettable it was. Words absolutely cannot do this wedding justice; thankfully, Jake from Kampphotography was on hand to capture their day in beautiful fashion.

The couple initially wanted to have a destination wedding, in the Napa area. Knowing that there were just too many logistics to sort out, they instead settled on country wedding in St Norbert, with a vineyard-inspired theme. We'll start things off today with their ceremony.

Designing gorgeous florals for wedding ceremonies (especially outdoor ceremonies!) are one of my absolute favourite things to design. Katie's talented brother built this enormous wood altar structure, and it was placed in this beautiful little clearing amidst towering oak trees. I spent a lot of time up on a ladder working on all of these pieces! Ingredients included hydrangea, delphinium, roses, mock orange, oak, and other assorted foliages. We placed two big urns at the start of the aisle, popped on wine barrels to fit with the vineyard-inspired theme.

Katie's bridal bouquet has easily become one of my all-time favourites. She wanted it lush, garden-inspired, and in a classic white and green palette. We used a lot of her favourite flowers - hydrangea, peonies, anemones, ranunculus, and parrot tulips. I tucked in clematis and ivy vines, this gorgeous green viburnum and sweet pea, along with several varieties of eucalyptus. It was all tied up in a lovely selection of soft, neutral toned silk ribbons from Stella Wolfe.

Oh, and these bridesmaid dresses? Amazing, right?

And now, on to the reception (planned by Tammy at Divine Weddings)! Sometimes, I'm a little afraid that an all white-and-green wedding palette is going to be a bit boring. But this wedding reception design was absolutely nothing but! We loaded these tables with gorgeous arrangements (in both longer wood boxes as well as pretty stone urns), clusters of stem vases, and plenty of candles. There was actually so much on the tables that Katie's brother built wood extenders, to make the tabletops larger! Tables were dressed in a natural grey linen, and the cross-back chairs from Planned Perfectly were just the best finishing touch. Not a single detail was left untouched - herbs on each place setting, calligraphed name cards for each guest by Jennifer Bianca Calligraphy. The dinner was catered by The Mitchell Block restaurant (and if you haven't been there yet, go - it's delish!) and Thom Bargen coffee even had a setup for all of the guests to enjoy.
